Wiki's pass the standard as scholarly work. See Jon Udell's webcast on the "scholarly" evolution of heavy metal umlauts at http://weblog.infoworld.com/udell/gems/umlaut.html. Also, see the Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana annotation project at http://queenloana.wikispaces.com/ Both are excellent examples of the potential for wikis as collaborative scholarly work. These examples change our traditional view of the production and peer review process that makes up profound new knowledge.
